You can delete your VibeSEO account yourself, and it actually deletes it
No support ticket, no waiting on someone to run a query. Two clicks in Settings, 30 days to change your mind, then permanent erasure. This page explains exactly what happens, what survives it, and why.
How deletion works
Ask, in the product
Settings → Profile → Danger zone. You type your own email address to confirm — no support ticket, no waiting on us to get round to it.
Access closes immediately
You are signed out everywhere, every ChatGPT and Claude connection stops working, scheduled article generation halts, and your subscription is cancelled the same minute.
30 days to change your mind
Nothing is deleted yet. A link in your confirmation email brings the whole account back — projects, articles, rank history, all of it. Your subscription is the one thing that does not return automatically.
Then it is genuinely gone
Erased from the live database, and from the backups as they roll out of their 35-day window. Not flagged as deleted, not hidden from the UI. Gone, and we cannot get it back either.
One thing worth knowing before you start: your subscription is cancelled the moment you request deletion, and restoring the account does not bring it back — you would subscribe again. We cancel immediately rather than at the end of the period because charging someone who asked to be forgotten is worse than the inconvenience.
What gets erased
- Your profile, email address, and every sign-in method, including linked Google or GitHub accounts
- All projects: keyword lists, rank history, site audits, backlink profiles, competitor sets
- Cached Search Console performance data, and the Google connection itself — the grant is revoked at Google, not just dropped on our side
- Every article, draft, and idea, plus the images generated for them
- Connections to WordPress, Wix, and Framer, and the stored credentials for each
- API keys, OAuth grants, and sessions
What stays, and why
Invoices and payment records
Tax and accounting law requires seven years. Your name and email are stripped from them, so the amounts stay on our books but are no longer connected to you.
What your usage cost us
Aggregate cost accounting keeps working after the account is gone: the spend stays, the link to a person is removed.
A record that the erasure happened
One row: when it was asked for, when it completed, and a keyed hash of the address — enough to confirm we deleted a specific account if you ever ask, and not enough to reconstruct who anyone was.
Articles you published to your own site
Anything already pushed to your WordPress, Wix, or Framer lives on your infrastructure, not ours. Deleting your VibeSEO account does not reach into your website — you stay in control of that.
How we hold what you give us
Credentials are encrypted, not just stored
Google refresh tokens, CMS passwords, and webhook secrets are encrypted at rest with AES-GCM, each bound to its own purpose so a token minted for one thing cannot be replayed as another.
Some things we cannot read back at all
Passwords are bcrypt hashes. API keys and session refresh tokens are stored as SHA-256 hashes — we can check one you present, but we could not tell you what your key is, because we do not know.
Your SEO queries are not tied to you
Keyword, SERP, and backlink lookups go to our data provider as a keyword and a domain. Who asked is not part of the request.
We do not train models on your content
Your articles and project data are sent to LLM providers to generate the output you asked for, under their API terms, and are not used by us to train anything.
Who else touches your data
Every company we rely on to run VibeSEO, what it is for, and what it actually receives. A list of logos without that last column would tell you nothing useful.
| Provider | Purpose | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Polar | Payments and subscriptions | Email address, our internal account id, billing history |
| Resend | Transactional email | Email address and message contents |
| Cloudflare | Image storage, CDN, custom blog domains | Published article content and generated images |
| DigitalOcean | Application hosting and managed database | All stored data, at rest |
| Upstash | Cache | Short-lived cached query results |
| OpenAI | Article generation and analysis | Project context and article content |
| OpenRouter | Image generation | Image prompts derived from your articles |
| DataForSEO | Keyword, SERP, and backlink data | Keywords and domains only — not who asked |
| Search Console, and sign-in if you use it | Only what you grant, and only if you connect it | |
| PostHog | Product analytics | Usage events and device information |
| Sentry | Error monitoring | Diagnostic data from failures |
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.
What you can ask for
Get a copy of your data
Email us and we will send it within 30 days. This one is not self-service yet — we would rather say so than pretend otherwise.
Delete everything
Self-service, in Settings. No ticket, no waiting.
Correct what is wrong
Most of it is editable in the product; email us for anything that is not.
Stop marketing email
One click in Settings, or the unsubscribe link in any such email. Account and billing notices still reach you.
Object, restrict, or complain
Email us, and you can always take it to your local data protection authority.
For anything on this list, write to support@vibeseo.dev. A real person reads it.
Still deciding?
Deleting is two clicks whenever you want it — which is rather the point of knowing it is there before you sign up.
